SUBJECT: Police Department Monthly Report for March 2024 STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive report as an informational item.
Patrol Statistics:
During the month of March 2024, the Fortuna Police handled 1,276 calls for service. 56 arrests were made including 10 felony arrests and 46 misdemeanor arrests. A total of 70 citations were issued for traffic offenses or other miscellaneous violations. Crime statistics and information on calls for service are available at forpd.crimegraphics.com.
Staffing:
One lateral law enforcement officer with local area experience has completed the preemployment, background investigation phase. The officer will be onboard in April. One entry-level candidate has been selected for the June academy sponsorship program and is currently in the pre-employment background investigation phase. One entry-level Public Safety Dispatch candidate is currently in the pre-employment background phase.
Measure Z (SRO Position):
During the month of March, the Measure Z Committee recommended funding for the Police Departments School Resource Officer position. The Board of Supervisors will review the rankings and recommendation in June before approving final funding.
Community Events:
During the month of March, members of the Fortuna Police Department began the planning phase for the Rodeo event K9 raffle and fundraiser.
