Miscellaneous Tasks
• The Utilities division continues to add to our GIS database, such as water meters with pictures for reference, existing backflow devices missing from our testing database, and water line sizes and locations as new information is field verified. • Mike McGinnis and Troy Hubner completed a week-long backflow testers certification class; this certification is crucial for ensuring safe drinking water in the distribution system. These devices prevent contaminants from flowing backward into the clean water supply under certain conditions; the annual testing of these devices is essential to confirm the device is working properly, as well as identify when maintenance or replacement is necessary.
