RISK MANAGEMENT / HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION
Staff continues to meet weekly with NeoGov representatives for Perform implementation training.

Staff anticipate rolling out Perform for use in January 2026.

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator and Human Resources Director/City Clerk are attending CalPELRA this month. This is an annual conference that offers a wide variety of labor, human resources, and employment training sessions, including educational and skill-building presentations that discuss new and critical issues.

In addition, the timing aligns with the Humboldt County Employment Relations Consortium (ERC) annual planning meeting, facilitated by Liebert Cassidy Whitmore (LCW). During this session, members will review and critique this year’s workshops, discussing successes and opportunities for improvement, while also selecting next year’s workshop delivery format and determining the training topics to be offered in the upcoming year.

Risk Management
There were no new Worker’s Compensation claims as of October 1, 2025, and one (1) new tort claims. City staff continue to work closely with LWP for Worker’s Compensation and George Hills, the City’s third-party claims administrator to bring claims to settlement or closure.

Date of Claim Type of Claim Status

On October 30th, Risk and Public Works Staff attended the California Intergovernmental Risk Authority (CIRA) Public Works Forum held at the River Lodge Conference Center. This included a day-long no-cost event to share practical insights, enhance technical skills, and tackle emerging challenges. Topics included agency immunities, indemnity and insurance requirements, claims handling and management, such as dangerous conditions and tree-related incidents, and public works loss data and tools.
