SUBJECT: Acceptance of $10,000 Grant Award from Humboldt Area Foundation and Approval of Supplemental Budget
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council accept a grant award in the amount of $10,000.00 from Humboldt Area Foundation (HAF) and approve a supplemental budget of $10,000 to reimburse Jen Rice Consults for additional services related to the Strategic Plan and General Plan Guiding Principles.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The HAF has awarded the City of Fortuna a $10,000 grant from its CEO Discretionary Grant Fund to support the City’s Listening Campaign and Future Fortuna Workshops (Strategic Plan and General Plan Guiding Principles). The grant allows flexibility in how funds are used and does not require formal reporting.
HAF has expressed strong support for Fortuna’s inclusive and forward-thinking engagement process. As part of this process, substantial Spanish translation services and additional data analysis were provided to ensure broad community participation. These services were not included in the original scope of work for Jen Rice Consults.
Accordingly, staff recommends approval of the attached supplemental budget to reimburse Jen Rice Consults for these additional translation services and additional data analysis.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this grant will not result in any negative fiscal impact to the City. The grant does not require matching funds or reporting. The funding will be used to reimburse Jen Rice Consults for Spanish translation services and additional data analysis associated with the Listening Campaign and Future Fortuna Workshops.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
Accept a grant award in the amount of $10,000.00 from Humboldt Area Foundation and approve a supplemental budget request in the amount of $10,000 to reimburse Jen Rice Consults for services related to the Strategic Plan and General Plan Guiding Principles. Consent Agenda vote.
