SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF THREE MEMBERS TO THE PARKS AND

RECREATION COMMITTEE

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council interview and by Minute Order, consider the appointment of three citizens to new full terms from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2026 on the Parks and Recreation Committee. With this appointment, the Parks and Recreation Commitee will have a full complement of seven members.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Parks and Recreation Committee consists of seven members with three members’ terms expiring December 31, 2023. The expansion of the Committee from five members to seven members was first approved by City Council at the March 12, 2021 City Council meeting on a temporary basis. At the October 3, 2022 City Council meeting, the expanded membership was extended to expire in 2028, providing time for the Committee to see several major projects through completion and ensure that appointments are made for a full three-year term.

A notice of recruitment for three members on the Parks and Recreation Committee was advertised on the City’s website, social media, starting on September 18, 2023 for six (6) weeks.
