A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A FIVE-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH AXON ENTERPRISE, INC. IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $460,468.53 FOR THE
PURCHASE OF NEW BODY-WORN CAMERAS, TASER DEVICES, SOFTWARE,
LICENSES AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES
CITY OF FOSTER CITY
WHEREAS, the City of Foster City needs to replace the current body-worn cameras, which have become obsolete; and
WHEREAS, body-worn cameras have proven to be an effective tool in mitigating risk, evidence collection, ensuring appropriate officer conduct, encouraging appropriate citizen conduct, accountability, transparency; and
WHEREAS, the City is interested in purchasing reliable, high-quality body-worn cameras and TASERS for its officers; and
WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated effectiveness of a TASER in gaining suspect compliance/cooperation; and
WHEREAS, the assumed reduction of injury to both suspects and officers averted through the display and/or application of the device; and WHEREAS, Axon Enterprises is a sole source vendor under the City’s Municipal Code section 3.04.08 for the body-worn cameras and TASERS, based on in part by the integration Evidence.com, that will bring the City into alignment with other San Mateo County agencies and the District Attorney’s Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foster City does hereby authorize the Mayor to execute a five-year agreement beginning August 1, 2024 and ending August 31, 2029 with Axon Enterprise, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $460,468.53 for the purchase of new body-worn cameras, taser devices, software, licenses and technical support services. 1 9
