A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF $75,000 FROM FUND 001 TO ACCOUNT NO. 001-0920-431-4246 AND AUTHORIZING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF REPAIR PARTS FOR THE LAGOON PUMPS FROM CUMMINS, INC. AND FINDING
THE ACTION EXEMPT FROM REVIEW UNDER THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (CEQA) PURSUANT TO CEQA GUIDELINES SECTION 15302, CLASS 2 (REPLACEMENT OR RECONSTRUCTION) AND 15269(B)
CITY OF FOSTER CITY
WHEREAS, the lagoon pumps are essential equipment used to maintain the lagoon system levels year round; and
WHEREAS, the need to replace the radiators in the two pumps at the Lagoon Pumphouse was identified during scheduled maintenance; and WHEREAS, the cost of the work exceeds the budget for the work due to the need to custom manufacture certain parts; and
WHEREAS, the total cost for both pumps is approximately $75,000; and WHEREAS, Cummins, Inc. is the only available vendor able to perform the repair; and
WHEREAS, it is important to complete the work prior to the wet season to ensure that the pumps to function properly to maintain the lagoon levels during winter storms.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foster City does herby:
1. Find the repair of the lagoon pumps exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15302, Class 2 (Replacement or Reconstruction) as the repair involves replacement of existing water lines located on the same site and for the same purpose as those replaced; and
2. Approve the appropriation of $75,000 from fund 001 to Account No. 001-0920- 431-4246; and
3. Approve the sole source purchase from Cummins, Inc.
