I am passionate about environmental policy and community outreach. As Vice Chair on CSAC for the past two years, I have helped with the drafting of the updated Climate Action Plan through various outreach efforts and social marketing suggestions. By joining CSAC again, I hope to continue helping with the Climate Action Plan project by assissting with its official adoption and implementation. As part of the committee, I took detailed meeting minutes and helped summarize action items for the committee. I also took part in the efforts of the Community Outreach and Earth Day subcommittees; I aim to continue along these lines for another term.

Growing up in Foster City my whole life, I've witnessed the city evolve through its many stages. From the time when the arts & wine festival would spill over to the Atria complex-which was then a patch of barren land-to the construction of the bay trail's wall. Now, as I get the chance to be part of the decision-making process first-hand, I hope to offer my own insights for the city which I am so deeply rooted in.
Participating in the Youth Activities Council (YAC) under the Youth in STEM division truly affirmed my passion for community service, as it was the perfect outlet for me to gain preliminary experience to fulfill my interests in the intersection of social equity, community work, and science. Through YAC, I learned a lot about responsibility, communication, and pitching my thoughts, as well as taking into account other ideas to address the bigger picture, and I hope to further this skillset on the citizens sustainability advisory board.
My first encounter with sustainability issues in Foster City city was after attending a youth district-wide event where we participated in various social workshops, and had the opportunity to speak with a panel of city representatives regarding the state of their respective cities. Sustainability was a major topic of discussion, particularly in terms of city projects, development of community infrastructure, and widespread life-style changes. What stood out to me most was when Stacy Jimenez revealed the reality of the water resource scarcity issue in Foster City. Foster City never struck me as a drought-ridden or water deficient region, with its lush flora and fauna surrounding much of the buildings and roads. So, it was alarming to hear that by 2050, the water supply in Foster City would dwindle to extreme lows at the current rate of consumption. After the seminar, I saw Foster City in a new light. Its beautiful landscaping and high quality of life may give the illusion of perfection, when the reality is quite the opposite, as the city does, in fact, face issues regarding its preservation and sustainability. Upon this realization, I knew that I wanted to take action and help contribute to addressing sustainability in Foster City.
