of the City of Foster City, California
Recognizing Saurabh Netravalkar for His Achievements in the Sport of Cricket
WHEREAS, On June 6, 2024, Saurabh Netravalkar played an essential role in engineering the U.S. Men's National Cricket Team's victory against Pakistan by bowling the super over during the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup; and WHEREAS, the remarkable upset victory over much favored opponents in the caliber of Pakistan marked America's second consecutive win in the tournament and pushed USA into the spotlight of the cricketing world; and
WHEREAS, Saurabh Netravalkar's passion and commitment to the sport brought him to join Team USA, after moving from his hometown of Mumbai, India, where he played for the Junior Indian cricket team, and moving to the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, Saurabh Netravalkar has successfully raised the standard of cricket in the United States and highlighted the growing prominence of cricket as a global sport; and WHEREAS, Saurabh Netravalkar's achievements in cricket has elevated the U.S. national team's standing in the cricketing world and paved the way for future cricket athletes in the United States.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PATRICK SULLIVAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby recognize and celebrate Foster City resident Saurabh Netravalkar for his exceptional contribution to the sport of cricket in the United States. His dedication and outstanding performance have changed the future of American cricket.
