Proclamation
of the City of Foster City, California
"National Volunteer Week" April 20-26, 2025
WHEREAS, in 1974 the President of the United States signed an executive order establishing an annual celebration of volunteering; and WHEREAS, the City of Foster City fully supports the benefit of engaging committed members of the public to serve our City; and
WHEREAS, volunteers have made a difference in the City by organizing park cleanups, helping in community events, assisting City staff with clerical work, and are ready to support first responders, serving as Reserve Police Officers, Emergency Service Volunteers, Police Explorers and much more; and
WHEREAS, these volunteers within the City of Foster City have donated their time to serve the community, and over the years, have contributed numerous hours in support of Foster City; and
WHEREAS, their spirit of volunteerism continues to contribute to our engaged, motivated and vibrant community; and
WHEREAS, we hope the work of these dedicated men and women inspires others to seek ways in which to serve their communities; and
WHEREAS, each City of Foster City volunteer has exhibited compassion, dedication, and professionalism during the performance of her/his duties in the past year.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STACY JIMENEZ, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby recognize and proclaim April 20-26, 2025 as "National Volunteer Week" and specifically recognize our local volunteers for their time and service to the citizens of Foster City and encourage other community members to engage in volunteerism as well
