Proclamation
of the City of Foster City, California
National Mosquito Control Awareness Week
June 15-21, 2025
WHEREAS, the American Mosquito Control Association has declared the week of June 15-21, 2025 as National Mosquito Control Awareness Week; and WHEREAS, mosquitoes and other vectors spread diseases such as West Nile virus, dengue virus, and malaria, and reduce enjoyment of outdoor recreation and hinder outdoor work; and
WHEREAS, adequately funded, science-based, professional mosquito and vector control, disease surveillance, and public awareness programs are the best ways to prevent outbreaks of mosquito-borne disease; and
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District collaborates with other agencies to safeguard the health and comfort of people in San Mateo County through a science-based program of integrated vector management; and WHEREAS, "National Mosquito Control Awareness Week" will increase public awareness, encourage the public to take action in preventing mosquito-transmitted diseases, and highlight the activities of the various mosquito and vector research and control agencies working to minimize mosquito-related health threats.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STACY JIMENEZ, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby declare that the week of June 15 through 21, 2025 be recognized as "National Mosquito Control Awareness Week." IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and have caused the official seal of the City
of Foster City to be affixed this 16th of June, in the
year two thousand and twenty-five, A.D.
