Proclamation
of the City of Foster City, California
"Park and Recreation Month" July 2025
WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs are an integral part of communities throughout this country, including the City of Foster City; and
WHEREAS, our parks and recreation are vitally important in establishing and maintaining the quality of life in our communities, ensuring the health of everyone, and contributing to the economic and environmental well-being of a community and region; and WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs increase a community's economic prosperity through increased property values, expansion of the local tax base, increased tourism, the attraction and retention of businesses, and crime reduction; and
WHEREAS, parks and recreation areas are fundamental to the environmental well-being of our community which makes Foster City a great place to live, work, and play; and WHEREAS, Foster City Parks and Recreation offers the community a wide range of educational, fun, and creative classes for all ages, and hosts free community events such as the Summer Concert Series and Summer Days; and
WHEREAS, Foster City Parks and Recreation continues to renovate and enhance landscapes at multiple park locations including Farragut, Shorebird, Erckenbrack, and Gateshead; and WHEREAS, our 24 parks and 218 acres of natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community and provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors; and WHEREAS, the U.S. House of Representatives has designated July as "Park and Recreation Month."
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STACY JIMENEZ, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby declare that July 2025 is proclaimed as "Park and Recreation Month" in the City of Foster City and in doing so, urge everyone to use and enjoy our parks, trails, open space, facilities, and recreation opportunities.
