RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY
APPROVING A THREE-YEAR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH LWP CLAIMS SOLUTIONS, INC. TO PROVIDE WORKERS COMPENSATION THIRD- PARTY ADMINISTRATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $260,000 AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT
CITY OF FOSTER CITY
WHEREAS, the City’s workers compensation claims are currently administered by Cities Group Joint Power Authority; and
WHEREAS, on November 14, 2024 staff notified Cities Group of Foster City’s intent to withdrawal effective July 1, 2025; and
WHEREAS, a Request for Proposals for a workers’ compensation third-party administrator was approved by City Council on January 6, 2025; and WHEREAS, after interviewing all respondents, LWP Claims Solutions, Inc. was selected by the evaluation committee as the most qualified and responsive proposal; and WHEREAS, LWP Claims Solutions, Inc. provided a cost proposal for administering new claims and a cost proposal for administering all existing claims if the Cities Group Board approves staff’s request to transition existing claims to selected third party administrator; and
WHEREAS, on June 10, 2025 the Cities Group Board of Directors approved a resolution to transition existing Foster City claims to the new third-party administrator; and WHEREAS, the proposed FY 2025-26 budget includes funds for professional services in anticipation of this contract being approved and no additional appropriation is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Foster City does hereby approve a three-year professional services agreement with LWP Claims Solutions, Inc. to provide Workers Compensation Third-Party Administration in an amount not to exceed $260,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the agreement, with minor amendments which may be approved by the City Attorney. 3 3
