Proclamation
of the City of Foster City, California
National Mosquito Control Awareness Week
June 21-27, 2026
WHEREAS, mosquitoes spread diseases such as West Nile virus, reduce enjoyment of outdoor recreation, and hinder outdoor work; and WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District works to safeguard the health and comfort of people in San Mateo County through a science-based program of integrated vector management; and WHEREAS, "National Mosquito Control Awareness Week" will increase public awareness, will encourage the public to take action in preventing mosquito- transmitted diseases, and will highlight the activities of the various mosquito and vector research and control agencies working to minimize mosquito-related health threats.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ART KIESEL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby declare that the week of June 21 through 27, 2026 be recognized as "National Mosquito Control Awareness Week."
