Background Information:
Why do you wish to serve as a member of this Board or Commission:
After many years in high stress jobs in high tech, I am now enjoying life with a combination of entrepreneurial, nonprofit, and personal explorations. While the projects upon which I worker ontributed in their own little way to the Internet and, therefore, to the quality of life, I finally hav ime to contribute more directly to the community. During my retirement, I am very interested in keeping myself and others active as contributing members of the community. Too often, seniors feel relegated to the background; they should not only enjoy life but also share their talent/knowledge with others.
What would you bring by way of perspective or experience to this Board or Commission:
On a volunteer level, 1 am an executive mentor at the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University (SCU). This program pairs seasoned executives with early/mid-career social entrepreneurs who benefit either US underserved communities or global communities in developing countries. It is an example of a great way to work across the generations.
Also on a volunteer level, I am a board member for the Stanford Women's Club of the East Bay (SWCEB). While SWCEB is open to all ages, many members of this alum club are seniors. I am the monthly newsletter editor. The newsletter publishes all the upcoming events. Unlike the serious/business nature of the SCU program, SWCEB keeps the members active through a fun- loving, yet interesting, variety of virtual and in-person (when safe) events. it is interesting to see so many people enjoying time together and sharing interests through such a range of offerings.
On a business level, I worked at startups, small companies, and established companies. Twice, I was fortunate to work at small companies that grew dramatically into large companies. This gave me the opportunity to grow from hands-on development to high level management. in these dynamic and diverse environments, my staff and | learned how to enable team productivity, how to enable/delegate/make decisions and creative solutions, how to achieve team buy-in, and how to motivate diverse team members across multiple geographies through good times and bad. ! would hope that these skills would be useful to the commission.

I was already quite verbose on the other two questions. The only other two things I will mention are the following.
1. While I am already involved in Silicon Valley and East Bay volunteer efforts, I would like to extend my involvement to either the Fremont senior community or the Fremont business community.
2. I am very interested in the various studies regarding longevity (such as those of the Stanford Longevity Center). Fremont should plan to make our city longevity-ready yet should still engage/attract young people. The way that we seniors spend our years not only is important to us but also could pave the way for our children and grandchildren, who might live to be Centurions.
Civic service is a privilege and responsibility of interested, qualified, sincere citizens. The value and importance of wide participation of a large number of citizens cannot be measured. Your interest in serving on a board or commission of the City of Fremont is greatly appreciated.

Background Information:
Why do you wish to serve as a member of this Board or Commission: As a senior, I am interested in promoting the value of all of us. Seniors need socialization by way of a place to share fellowship and some meals on occasion. It is vitally important for those of us categorized as seniors to have outlets to be with those with whom we can share our life-long experiences.
What would you bring by way of perspective or experience to this Board or Commission: _ As a Board member, the experience as a representative of various companies as a purchasing professional gives me the ability to listen to other seniors and aid, in some way, in the resolution of their concerns. If those concerns cannot be resolved, I can communicate the reasons for the outcome. Have also worked as an office manager for a major financial institution as a Regional Leader Senior Branch Office Administrator My duties were to work with the Regional Leader over 40 financial representatives and coordinate with their branch office administrators. I would set up regional meetings for the representative and separate meetings for the branch office administrators.
