Dear Planning Commissioners, City Council Members and Mayor Mei,
Centerville Business & Community Association (CBCA) fully supports the proposed outdoor commercial patio ordinance.
The City’s Pop Up Patio program has helped businesses recover from the economic hardship of the COVID -19 pandemic. The proposed outdoor commercial patio ordinance builds on the success of the Pop Up Patio program by maintaining the straightforward permit ting process and flexible regulations.
The adoption of the outdoor commercial patio ordinance will provide greater certainty to businesses who are looking to operate outdoors long-term.
Additionally, CBCA strongly supports staff’s implementation proposal to provide businesses with a six -month grace period to comply with the new regulations and reimburse the initial permit fee. The proposal is responsive to the ongoing need to support businesses as they financially recover from the pandemic.
In conclusion, CBCA is in support of the proposal, and we urge the Planning Commission to recommend its approval to City Council.
