Bees are in bad danger, so beekeeping should be encouraged. I recommend Fremont puts together a Beekeeping club like most counties.

Thank you for helping to make Fremont so much more pollinator friendly!
The proposal sounds reasonable and allows for the help of people who can handle swarms and even nuisance problems.

I think beekeeping should be encouraged in Fremont. The are endangered and necessary to agriculture.

Many in Fremont are
growing fruit and veggies in their own gardens.Let us have bees.

I don't think beekeeping should be entirely unregulated. There are occasions when neighbors cannot manage perceived nuisances among themselves. When conflicts do occur it is best to bring in someone knowledgeable about the subject. Often the issue can be fixed with a minor adjustment to the hive or the beekeeper's practice.

If after a mediation is attempted the issue is still unresolved there should be a means to address the situation. I believe nuisance regulations are already on the books that provide adequate authority to deal with this circumstance.

There are likely more than two
hundred beekeepers in Fremont. Most are highly sensitive to the concerns of neighbors and do everything they can to avoid causing annoyance or harm. I have heard that calls about bees to Animal Control are very rare. This attests to the seriousness and care of the beekeeping community.

Beekeeping is too difficult for a person to do it by themselves without the mentoring of bee experts and bee associations.

Urbanization is injurious to nature. It is everyone's responsibility to do their part. Bees are essential for all that backyard garners and nature.

If anything, the city needs to encourage more bees in the community.

Not all bees sting but all bees help nature and they are gatekeepers of healthy earth

Has there been an uptick in problems associated with beekeeping? Beekeeping is a domestic activity like keeping kittens or fish.

It would be great to have a hotline to call when wild bees are found somewhere so that they could be moved safely to another home if needed.
