Why do you wish to serve as a member of this Board or Commission:
I wish to serve on this board as I am personally interested in the maintaining and preservation of California history and California historical landmarks. I want to promote the ongoing education of our school age children as well as the public in the development of early California and the many ethnic groups that had a hand in the California we know today.
What would you bring by way of perspective or experience to this Board or Commission: _ I am a descendant of early California Pioneers who came west for a new life. My great, great grandfather brought 3 wagon trains west to California bringing his family out on the third train. He donated the land for the first school in what is today, Manteca. He was a veteran of the Mexican War and served in the Battle of Salinas. He was present when the American Flag was hoisted by Commander Sloat in Monterey on July 7, 1846.
For me it is important to continue his legacy.
I am passionate about the early history of California and Oregon. Coming from a multi- ethnic family it is important to me to ensure the representation of the many cultures that make up the fabric of our state's history. I want to see the history accurately researched, ethnically inclusive and honestly told.
With an extensive formal education in history, research and as a certified teacher I hope to ensure that California history is fun, fascinating, and accessible to the many. I want to ensure that our heritage is saved, valued and protected for future generations.
