Background Information:

Why do you wish to serve as a member of this Board or Commission:

I am very interested in the health and well-being of the community members in the city where I live and work. The quality of life is important to my sense of health and well-being as well. How we treat our most vulnerable populations reflect on how we treat all the people who live here. I want to serve on the Senior Citizens Commission because our senior citizens often face barriers and obstacles that require community support. I would be very honored to focus on the health and well-being of this special population.

What would you bring by way of perspective or experience to this Board or Commission:

My personal perspective and experience would be a very valuable resource to this Commission.

I have served as an active community member for many years, while I lived in the City of Benicia, which is mostly a retirement community, in Solano County. I have personal experience with understanding the needs of the senior population when it comes to transportation, life long learning, housing, health, financial planning, family, loneliness, elder abuse, mobility, and end of life care. As well, I have lived with the elderly in multigenerational family housing. I grew up with my grandparents living with my family. As well, I have familiarity with assisted living and convalescence living and group senior housing. As someone who works in education, 1 am also familiar with the interests of seniors in taking life long learning courses and the importance of participating in mentoring and volunteering activities for social connection.
