Executive Summary: The purpose of this report is to facilitate replacement of an aging and damaged electrical system at Central Park which provides lighting for the softball field, as well as electrical power for nearby restrooms, irrigation controllers, and the concession stand building.
BACKGROUND: Development of Central Park and Lake Elizabeth began in 1960. The Park is set on 450 acres with an 83-acre lake. The electrical system, consisting of switchgear and transformers, serving a portion of Central Park along Stevenson Boulevard, has reached the end of its life cycle, and needs to be replaced. The electrical system provides power to two softball fields, two public restrooms, the snack shack, and irrigation controllers. Additionally, the system was further damaged in September 2023 due to rodent infestation in the rusted equipment, requiring emergency repairs. A project has been designed to replace the electrical system equipment in its entirety.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The Central Park Switchgear and Transformers project was advertised for construction bids in February 2024, and six bids were received on March 5, 2024. The bidders and respective bid amounts are shown below. The Engineer’s Estimate is $350,000.
