Executive Summary: The purpose of this report is to facilitate the replacement of a back- up power generator at Fire Station No.7, located in South Fremont.

BACKGROUND: Fire Station No.7 located at 43600 S. Grimmer Boulevard is an approximately 10,000 square-feet single story building constructed in 1967 and retrofitted in 2005. This fire station serves the Tesla Factory, the Auto Mall Parkway industrial area, and surrounding neighborhoods.

The existing generator stopped functioning in August 2023 due to a fuel tank failure, having reached the end of its life cycle, and needs to be replaced. This generator is critical for the Fire Station in order to operate during a power outage. A temporary generator is currently operating onsite at a cost of $33,000 dollars a month until a new generator can be installed.

The project also includes replacing other old systems that support the generator including the automatic transfer switch (ATS). Replacing the concrete pad foundation for the generator is included as Bid Alternative No. 1. The new generator will have a Tier 4 exhaust system, meeting current environmental standards to reduce CO2 emissions.
