MAYOR MEI REFERRAL: Designation of League of California Cities Annual Conference Voting Delegate and up to two Alternates.
Consistent with the League bylaws, a City’s voting delegate must be designated by the City Council. The City Council may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity. The League’s bylaws now require that designating the voting delegate and alternates must be done by City Council action and cannot be accomplished by individual action of the mayor or city manager alone.
The League’s 2024 Annual Conference is scheduled for October 16-18, 2024, and an important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting, scheduled for Friday, October 18. At this meeting, the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. To remain consistent with League bylaws, I am recommending appointing Councilmember Raj Salwan as the City’s voting delegate and Mayor Lily Mei and Vice Mayor Desrie Campbell as the voting alternates.
RECOMMENDATION: By motion, appoint Councilmember Raj Salwan as the City’s voting delegate for the League of California Cities Annual Conference and Mayor Lily Mei and Vice Mayor Desrie Campbell as the voting alternates.
