Background Information:

Why do you wish to serve as a member of this Board or Commission:

I am driven by a deep commitment to fostering inclusivity, equality, and social justice within our community. Joining the Human Relations Commission presents an opportunity to advocate for the rights of all individuals, irrespective of their background.

What would you bring by way of perspective or experience to this Board or Commission:

My diverse background as a technology professional, yoga educator, and community builder has equipped me with the necessary tools to analyze complex situations, communicate effectively, and propose solutions that prioritize fairness and inclusivity.

I believe a thriving community hinges on respect, understanding, and empathy. Through my involvement in the Human Relations Commission, I aim to actively promote these values by working collaboratively with fellow commissioners, city officials, community leaders, and residents to address issues of discrimination, prejudice, and inequality.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the Human Relations Commission and am eager to contribute my time, energy, and dedication to advancing its objectives. Thank you for considering my candidacy, and I look forward to the possibility of working together towards a more just and inclusive Fremont for everyone.

I grew up in India, surrounded by diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. This upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for inclusivity and respect for all individuals. Moving to the United States for graduate school amplified my admiration for the country's diversity and equal opportunities.

Choosing Fremont was a deliberate decision due to its diverse population, aligning with my values. As a climate activist and community enthusiast, I founded Buy Nothing Glenmoor in 2017, a thriving community of over 900 members dedicated to sustainability and fostering neighborly connections through resource-sharing.

Additionally, my role as a yoga and mindfulness educator allowed me to introduce these practices to families in partnership with local libraries. I firmly believe in nurturing compassionate communities through these teachings.

If appointed, I would bring all these rich lived experiences and perspectives to the Human Relations Commission and contribute to fostering a compassionate community environment in Fremont.
