Fascinating moire patterns also appear where the perforated material overlaps, creating additional visual interest without obstructing the abundant natural light of the lobby. Powder coating allows for a nearly limitless color palette, with these designs rendered in both metallic earth tones and bright, playful colors.
Careful consideration was given to both designs to ensure impactful visuals from both inside and outside of the building.
Description:
Inspired by the patterns of the surrounding landscape, abstracted tree roots weave and stretch across the ceiling of the lobby, celebrating the natural beauty of the East Bay area. This immersive sculpture not only references Mission Peak and its flora, but also represents the interconnectivity and diversity of the Fremont community.
The profile and facets of Mission Peak also serve as inspiration for the second design variation, with angular elements gently rising and falling, guiding visitors through the space. The abstracted forms are open to other interpretations as well, such as brids in flight, encouraging viewers to engage with the artwork.
