CITY OF FRESNO
The Fresno City Council
Is hereby presented to:
African American Coalition
for their tireless work and leadership in advancing health issues affecting the African American community
WHEREAS: February is nationally proclaimed “Black History Month,” to honor African Americans and thank them for their countless contributions to the City of Fresno. From the very beginning of our city, African Americans were essential to the development and success of our community; and
WHEREAS: We as a diverse community thank these champions of justice for bringing our country to a better and more socially just time. And although the fight for equality continues on today, we remember how far the African American community has brought us and thank them for continuing to illuminate the path to social equality; and
WHEREAS: Fresno’s residents continue to honor the sacrifices of the men, women, and children who were victims of harassment, discrimination and violence solely because of the color of their skin. Their courage continues to inspire us as a community to fight for equality on every front; and
WHEREAS: the City of Fresno celebrates community leaders, civil rights leaders, religious leaders, business leaders, elected leaders, and youth leaders.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that we, Nelson Esparza, Miguel Arias , and the Fresno City Council, do hereby proclaim, the month of February 2022 as:
“Black History Month”
in the City of Fresno,
