A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, REVOKING CREDIT CARDS FOR
COUNCILMEMBERS AND THEIR STAFF
WHEREAS, most Central Valley municipalities do not provide their elected officials credit cards; and
WHEREAS, Councilmembers and their staff are issued a City credit card as a convenience to pay for certain City-related expenses; and WHEREAS, credit cards are merely issued for convenience, and without credit cards, expenses wou ld be still be subject to reimbursement upon providing accurate documentation to the Controller; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it is in the best interest of the public to revoke credit cards from Councilmembers and their staff, and require reimburseme nt only upon providing accurate and complete justification for expenditures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fresno as follows:
1. All credit cards issued to Councilmembers and Council staff shall be rescinded and not reissued. Expenses that would otherwise be charged to a credit card may be reimbursed upon providing the Controller and City Manager complete and accurate documentation of the public purpose for the expenditure.
2. This resolution shall be effective upon final approval.
