WHEREAS, the month of May is dedicated to affordable housing awareness and advocacy; and WHEREAS, the City of Fresno and its partner organizations recognize the need and importance of housing affordability; and
WHEREAS, all individuals should have access to safe, healthy, and affordable homes within vibrant communities that provide inclusive opportunities to jobs, amenities and education; and
WHEREAS, everyone benefits from quality affordable housing, including the residents, their neighbors, businesses, employers, and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Fresno Housing and the Permanent Affordable Housing Initiative is committed to ensuring that families and individuals across Fresno can live with dignity, in safe, vibrant, and affordable homes; and
WHEREAS, united to raise public awareness, organizations and communities throughout the City of Fresno are participating in Affordable Housing Month in order to elevate the critical need to create healthy communities with ample affordable housing; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, Mayor Jerry Dyer and Members of the Fresno City Council proclaim Thursday, May 26, 2022, to be:
“Affordable Housing Month”
In the City of Fresno.
