District 3

Briefly explain why are you interested in serving on this board or commission? I was born in the City of Fresno and attended K-12 schools in the City and throughout the Valley. After obtaining my post-secondary education, I returned home to serve the community that raised me. I have lived in downtown for a number of years. I believe in the promise of a revitalized downtown, one that honors the dignity and legacy of long-term residents while welcoming and drawing new tenants, homeowners, and businesses. Good planning is a precursor to fulfilling that promise. Good planning— based in administrative proficiency, policy expertise, and community participation—beautifies neighborhoods, fosters economic development, and protects against environmental harm. It provides fertile ground for businesses to locate and grow while improving the quality of life for new and long-term residents. I wish to serve on the Planning Commission to participate in the planning efforts of not only downtown but the City at large. I hope to use my experience and commitment to serving Fresnans to help the City grow, build, and thrive.

Educational background, Schools Attended, Degrees and Certifications Juris Doctor, Yale Law School; Master in Public Administration, Harvard Kennedy School; Bachelor of Arts (Political Science), Stanford University
Briefly explain your qualifications or areas of demonstrated expertise for this board or commission.

I believe my experience on the District Three Project Review Committee, along with my other professional and educational background, have provided me with the knowledge and capacity to serve the Commission well.
