WHEREAS , National Public Works Week calls attention to the importance of services provided by public works professionals, including here in Fresno, where these professionals are an important part of the community; and
WHEREAS , public works infrastructure, facilities and services play a pivotal role in the community’s health, safety and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, without the skilled and dedicated efforts of public works professionals including engineers, administrators, field staff, and office staff at all levels these services could not be provided.
These professionals are responsible for the design, building, operation, and maintenance of our infrastructure. They improve and protect the transportation systems and equipment, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential for Fresno’s citizens; and
WHEREAS, we call upon citizens and civic organizations to recognize the contributions which the City of Fresno’s Departments of Public Works, Transportation and Public Utilities provide every day to protecting our health, safety and quality of life.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED , that we, Mayor Jerry Dyer, City Manager Georgeanne White and Members of the Fresno City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of May 21 - May 27, 2023, as:
“National Public Works Week”
