WHEREAS, Please join me in adjourning in memory of life-long Fresno resident and community fixture, Sally Caglia; and
WHEREAS, Beginning at age 12, she began working at her father Frank Caglia’s Electric Motor Shop in downtown Fresno; and
WHEREAS, In high school, she and her brother Vince learned to manage and operate the Orange Avenue Disposal; and
WHEREAS, By working alongside her father, Frank, and two brothers, Dick and Vince, she eventually moved through all the levels of business management to eventually become head of corporate development for all of the Caglia family businesses; and
WHEREAS, Sally generously supported her community over the years through time and philanthropy.
These included support of the arts, fundraisers, and various community groups; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of her tireless efforts in and around Fresno, she was awarded the prestigious Fresno Chamber of Commerce Leon S. Peters Award in 2023; and
WHEREAS, Her family considered her a role model for them and their employees, who all admired her dedication, work ethic, and commitment to the community and love of God; and
WHEREAS, The Central Valley lost Sally Caglia on December 10th at age 76. Sally was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her large family including her four children, five grandchildren, and five siblings.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we Mayor Jerry Dyer and the Fresno City Council recognize the memory of:
“Sally Caglia”
in the City of Fresno.
