A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDING
FROM PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY (PG&E)
TO REIMBURSE THE CITY OF FRESNO PARCS
DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $34,938.10 FOR
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2023 COOLING CENTER
OPERATIONS AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OR
DESIGNEE TO RESPOND TO PG&E’S 2024 GRANT
SOLICITATION TO SEEK REIMBURSEMENT FOR COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2024 COOLING CENTER
OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, in 2022 the City Council established a policy for the City’s cooling and warming centers which was amended on December 7, 2023; and WHEREAS, PG&E has announced the availability of funding for cooling center operations through its annual grant funding solicitation; and WHEREAS, the Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services (PARCS) Department applied for funding from PG&E in 2023 and was awarded $34,938.10 to reimburse the City of Fresno for personnel and materials expenses for its cooling center operations in calendar year 2023; and
WHEREAS, the PARCS Department is seeking authority to accept the reimbursement for the 2023 Cooling Center operations; and WHEREAS, the PARCS Department is also seeking authority to respond to PG&E’s 2024 grant solicitation to seek reimbursement for costs associated with the 2024 cooling center operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fresno as follows:

1. Approves the acceptance of $34,938.10 from PG&E for the purposes of reimbursing the PARCS Department for personnel and supply costs for the 2023 operation of cooling centers.
2. Authorizes the City Manager or Designee to respond to PG&E’s 2024 grant solicitation to seek reimbursement for costs associated with 2024 cooling center operations.
