CITY OF FRESNO
Offices of Council President Annalisa Perea, Mayor Jerry P. Dyer and Councilmember Tyler Maxwell
WH EREAS, Terry Cox has devoted a distinguished career to serving the residents of the City of Fresno. Her remarkable journey began on August 1, 1996, when her tenacity secured her a position with former Councilmember Dan Ronquillo and she served as his Chief of Staff for 7 years. Subsequently, she transitioned to roles as a Project Manager and Management Analyst III for the City’s Redevelopment Agency, dedicating 8 years to this endeavor; and
WH EREAS, her expertise earned her the title of the “Teacher of Chief of Staffs” guiding new Chiefs through the intricacies of the city’s budget and collaborating with counterparts to enact essential changes. After a brief hiatus at Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for 2 years, focusing on community outreach, her passion for public ser vice led her back to city hall, where she served the residents of District One under former Councilmember Esmeralda Soria for 7 years; and
WH EREAS, Terry’s tenure as Chief of Staff presented challenges, yet her resilience enabled her to navigate numerous city projects, fostering economic development, expanding housing, parks, and public safety facilities; and
WH EREAS, she continued her commitment to enhancing housing in Fresno as she transitioned into the role of Project Liaison for Housing within the Planning & Development Department/Administration & Management in March 2022; and
WH EREAS, we commend not only her professional contributions but also her extensive community service, notably on the Central Unified Board of Trustees for 20 years, including multiple terms as President.
Additionally, she has been an integral part of various committees serving the City of Fresno; and
WH EREAS, her personal life is equally admirable, having found her life partner, Kevin, of 47 years in a High School Driver’s Training Class. Together, they have raised three adult sons and are blessed with three beautiful grandchildren; and
WH EREAS, Terry has earned the respect of many through her exemplary work over the past several years and, we wish her the very best as she embarks on her retirement journey.
