A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION
OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA
COASTAL COMMISSION WHALE TAIL® GRANTS
PROGRAM OF UP TO $50,000 TO PROVIDE MARINE
STEWARDSHIP EDUCATION FOR YOUTH, AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO
ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS AND SIGN ALL RELATED
DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the California Coastal Commission (CCC) announced the Whale Tail® Grants program notice of funding opportunity on August 22, 2024; and WHEREAS, the City of Fresno (City) Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services (PARCS) Department is seeking authority to apply for and accept funding to provide marine stewardship and marine life education to youth living in and around the City of Fresno through a series of field trips and projects; and WHEREAS, the City, if successful, will enter into a grant agreement with the CCC for the implementation of grant funded programming.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fresno as follows:
1. Council authorizes the City Manager or designee to apply for up to $50,000 from the CCC’s Whale Tail® Grants program to provide marine stewardship and marine life education to youth living in and around the City of Fresno through a series of field trips and projects; and
2. Council authorizes the City Manager or designee to accept grant funds,

conduct negotiations, execute, submit and sign all documents including but not limited to applications, agreements, contracts, amendments, payment requests and other documents which may be necessary for acceptance of the grant funding and implementation of grant-funded programming.
