As a taxpayer, parent, community member, neighbor, and simply as a human being making Fresno my home, I urge City Council to rethink our approach to our unhoused neighbors. The Homeless Assistance Response Team (HART) is cruelly named as its conduct appears to heartless. During these gestapo-like sweeps, so many human and civil rights are violated.

People are profiled and the ordinances are selectively enforced in a discriminatory fashion.

Belongings are trashed instead of protected and catalogued. Pets are cruelly abandoned. This is morally reprehensible. The current approach penalizes misfortune rather than providing any assistance or responding to any needs. Take the homelessness portfolio away from the cops and give it to the social workers. Repeal the sit-lie-sleep ordinance.
