PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The proposed project includes cons truction of cricket pitch in the outfield of the existing baseball fiel d at the southwest corner of the park.

Section 15301/Class 1 of the CEQA Guidelines exempts fr om the provisions of CEQA, projects consisting of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond th at existing at the time of the lead agency's determination.
The project will not significantly expand the use of the public park, it will rather provide a better facility to cricket players. The addition of the cr icket pitch will convert the existing baseball field to a dual-use baseball-cricket field. The cricket pitch totals 1,008 square feet of synthetic turf over a concrete foundation resulting in an insignificant change to the existing turf fields at each park.
Based on the evaluati on of the project components in rela tion to the CEQA categorical exemptions, it is determined that the propose d project qualifies for exemption from CEQA review. The improvements described above falls within the criteria of Class 1 (Section 15301).
None of the exceptions to Categorical Exemptio ns set forth in the CEQA guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to this pr oject. Furthermore, the proposed pr oject is not expec ted to have a significant effect on the environment. Therefore, a categorical exemption, as noted above, has been prepared for the project.
