A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, NAMING THE PARK AT 2155 SOUTH
PEACH AVENUE TO “PEACH PARK”
WHEREAS, the City of Fresno owns property located at 2155 South Peach Avenue (APN 481-020-29T and 481-020-30T); and
WHEREAS, the City of Fresno and community leaders broke ground on a new park located on South Peach Avenue, between Church and Butler, at 2155 South Peach Avenue, on February 12, 2025; and
WHEREAS, by 1916, the site began functioning as the “Peach Avenue Station”, which came about through a donation of land from California grape growers, interested in unbiased recommendations of the best varieties of grapes to be grown for table grapes, raisins, and wine; and
WHEREAS, the property was known as a USDA Experiment Vineyard, and although it started out as a grape evaluation site, it later grew into an important plant breeding and postharvest quality center with a diversity of research projects which included peaches, plums, nectarines, and apricots; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with the historical nature of the land this resolution intends to acknowledge not only the location of the park, but the fact that the parcel was the site of an agricultural research facility that developed new table grape varieties and became an innovative lab for peach breeding; and
WHEREAS, from February 12
th to February 25th, 2025 the City collected community
input regarding the park name with over 600 engagements and “Peach Park” was the clear

favorite; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 5-101 the Council has the ability to name or rename public facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fresno as follows:
1. The park at 2155 South Peach Avenue shall hereafter be named “ Peach Park”.
2. This resolution is adopted in accordance with Section 8 of Administrative Order 6-2.
3. The provisions of Resolution No. 2020- 272 shall be waived with respect to this Resolution.
4. This resolution shall be effective upon final approval.
