Central Section Division 1 Champions:
Edison High School Boys’ Soccer Team
WHEREAS, the Edison High School Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team, under the exemplary leadership of Head Coach Femi Olukanni, has demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the 2024-2025 season; and
WHEREAS, on February 27, 2025, the Edison High School Tigers secured the Central Section Division I Championship in a thrilling match against Clovis North High School, culminating in a 3-2 victory; and
WHEREAS, the championship game was highlighted by a decisive free kick in the final minute of extra time by senior forward, Eliesar Reyes, leading the team to victory; and
WHEREAS, this remarkable achievement marks the first Division 1 title for Edison High School since the year 2000, ending a 25-year championship drought; and
WHEREAS, the unwavering support of the coaching staff, families, and the Edison High School community has been instrumental in the team's journey to success, bringing immense pride to Edison High School and the Fresno community; and
WHEREAS, the team's success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the following players and coaching staff: Head Coach Femi Olukanni, Assistant Coach Isaiah Lorigo, Angel Hernandez, Julian Vorabouth, Emmanuel Gomez, Diego Figueroa, Gavin Morris, Diego Godinez, Danny Zinzun, Matthew Casillas, Kingston Davies, Anthony Verduzco, Giovanni Cecado, Elieser Reyes, Moises Dorantes, Gustavo Barajas, Aaron Cazarez, Steven Amezola, Zerin Sheriff, Ntukogu Chukwuma, Giovanni Garcia, David Falcon, Carlos Romero, Zaven Laporta, and Ryan Cuellar; and
WHEREAS, we recognize and congratulate the Edison High School Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team for their outstanding achievement and performance in winning the Central Section Division I Championship.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED , we, the Fresno City Council and Mayor Jerry P.
Dyer, do hereby proclaim March 13, 2025, to be Edison High School Boys’ Soccer Team Day.
