WH EREAS, academic achievement, perseverance, and community involvement are essential to shaping the leaders of tomorrow and building a more sustainable, compassionate society; and WH EREAS, Roldyn J. Reyes , a graduating senior from Roosevelt High School , has exemplified these qualities through his dedication to education, sustainability, and service to his community; and WH EREAS, originally from Honduras, Roldyn came to the United States in pursuit of greater educational opportunity, overcoming the formidable challenge of learning a new language with determination and resilience—mastering English within just one year and quickly advancing to upper-level English courses; and WH EREAS, Roldyn distinguished himself as a scholar and leader through his participation in the Academic Decathlon , earning four medals and playing a pivotal role in leading his team to a first-place finish in their division; and
WH EREAS, his involvement in Roosevelt High School’s Environmental Club deepened his understanding of sustainability and reinforced his belief that small, thoughtful actions can lead to meaningful change in the world around us; and
WH EREAS, Roldyn has set his sights on a future in medicine, aspiring to give back by helping others—just as his teachers, family, and community have supported and uplifted him throughout his journey; and WH EREAS, in recognition of his accomplishments and potential, Roldyn J. Reyes has been named Outstanding Graduating Senior by Republic Services.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Mayor Jerry Dyer and the Fresno City Council, do recognize Republic Services Outstanding Graduating Senior to be:
“Roldyn J. Reyes”
in the City of Fresno.
