WHEREAS, Braj Sekhon, a Senior enrolled in Central Unified School District’s Central Online Home School Program, has achieved the extraordinary and rare academic accomplishment of earning a perfect 1600 on the SAT, a distinction achieved by less than less one percent of test-takers nationwide; and
WHEREAS, he made the decision to pursue his education through online schooling in order to support his family and assist his father in operating their computer recycling business, demonstrating maturity, responsibility, and selfishness far beyond his years; and WHEREAS, through unwavering dedication, Braj devoted countless hours to mastering his studies and preparing for the SAT, taking the exam multiple times and improving with each effort until he reached the highest possible score, a remarkable testament to his perseverance, discipline, and relentless pursuit of excellence; and
WHEREAS, beyond his academic achievement success, Braj has shown sincere commitment to service and leadership in the Fresno community, supporting local food banks, helping families gain access to essential resources, and volunteering at the Sikh Institute of Fresno, where he teaches younger students how to read, write, and speak Punjabi; and WHEREAS, Braj’s story has become an inspiration to his teachers, classmates, and the broader Fresno community. His achievement stands as a shining example of what can be accomplished through hard work, sacrifice, and the unwavering belief that education can transform lives and create opportunities; and
WHEREAS, his humility, leadership, and generosity of spirit reflect the very best of Fresno’s youth.
We wish him continued success as he pursues his academic and personal goals, confident that his drive, intelligence, and character will lead to many more accomplishments in the years ahead.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Mayor Jerry P . Dyer, Councilmember Annalisa Perea, and the Fresno City Councilmembers, do hereby recognize and proclaim Thursday, November 6, 2025, to be:
“Braj Sekhon Day”
