WHEREAS, Cassie Yoshikawa is the creator behind Cassie’s Compass , a travel and adventure platform born in the heart of California’s Central Valley, founded on a desire to explore and share the beauty of Fresno, Clovis, and the surrounding region; and
WHEREAS, what began as a simple journey to get to know her own community has grown into a storytelling brand that celebrates the hidden gems of Central California and beyond—showcasing local cafés built from dreams, trails that invite reflection, and small businesses born from big faith; and
WHEREAS, through her photography, writing, and creative storytelling, Cassie highlights the people and places that make Fresno shine, revealing that our city is full of treasures crafted by locals who turned passion into purpose; and
WHEREAS, at its heart, Cassie’s Compass is about connection—to people, to place, and ultimately to the Creator —reflecting Cassie’s belief that travel and storytelling can inspire gratitude, wonder, and deeper awareness of God’s beauty in the world around us; and
WHEREAS, this vision is rooted in Scripture, particularly Romans 1:19–20: “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them… His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly perceived in the things that have been made.”; and
WHEREAS, by sharing her adventures across California and her reflections on community, creativity, and faith, Cassie Yoshikawa continues to remind us that every person, story, and place —including our own city—holds something sacred worth discovering.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Mayor Jerry Dyer and the Fresno City Council, do hereby proclaim and celebrate the inspiring work and community impact of:
“Cassie’s Compass”
in the City of Fresno.
