WHEREAS, the California Apartment Association (CAA) has served as a dedicated partner to the City of Fresno for more than a decade, working collaboratively to strengthen housing quality, expand housing supply, and support responsible rental housing practices across the community; and
WHEREAS, CAA has played a key role in major policy advancements aimed at improving living conditions citywide, including supporting the successful passage of the Anti-Slum Enforcement Team (ASET) in 2016, the Rental Housing Improvement Act (RHIA) in 2017, and enhanced fine structures for habitual violators in 2018; and
WHEREAS, beginning in 2018, CAA partnered with the City of Fresno to provide free rental housing provider education through the Neighborhood Revitalization and School Area Teams, helping landlords understand their responsibilities and improve housing outcomes for tenants; and
WHEREAS, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, CAA worked closely with the City to educate rental housing providers on relief funding, promote stability, and keep Fresno families housed during an unprecedented crisis; and
WHEREAS, CAA further collaborated with the City of Fresno and Fresno Housing in 2022 to improve Housing Choice Voucher acceptance; and
WHEREAS, CAA has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service by supporting Operation Gobble with the Police and Fire Chaplaincy, installing a children’s library with Reading Heart, partnering with Toys for Tots, assisting first responders through the Front Line Assistance Group (FLAG), and working with the Central California Food Bank to support families during economic hardship.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Mayor Jerry Dyer and the Fresno City Council, do hereby recognize the lasting contributions and community partnership of:
