Honoring Singer Ralph Edwards’ Star Turn
WHEREAS, Fresno native Ralph Edwards has exemplified extraordinary perseverance, auditioning eleven times before earning a Season 28 spot on NBC’s “The Voice,” gaining national acclaim with an inspired series of performances that led to a runner-up finish; and WHEREAS, Ralph’s breakthrough moment came with a rare and electrifying four-chair turn during his blind audition, where he performed a rendition of the Journey song “Lights.” He then choose Snoop Dogg as his coach and subsequently beat teammate Jerrell Melton in the battle round, then winning in the knockout and playoff rounds on his way to the finals, earning national recognition and propelling him to the season finale, where he represented Fresno with exceptional talent and grace; and WHEREAS; his artistry and dedication brought pride to Fresno, inspiring audiences nationwide while remaining deeply connected to his community; and WHEREAS, Ralph began singing at age 3, and has been performing on stage since his choir days at Kastner Middle School, followed by Clovis West High School and then Fresno City College. Thought his experience on The Voice is finished, Edwards continues his musical journey, fronting the band VibeCheck and enriching Fresno’s cultural landscape; and WHEREAS, during his journey on The Voice, Ralph celebrated his engagement, a meaningful personal milestone that further connected his inspiring story to themes of love, family, and community celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, Mayor Jerry Dyer and Members of the Fresno City Council, do hereby proclaim Thursday, January 15, 2026, to be:
