WHEREAS, the City of Fresno is proud to recognize the Central East High School Boys Volleyball Team (Grizzlies) for a remarkable 2026 season defined by excellence, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to teamwork as they represented Central East High School and the Central Unified School District with pride and distinction; and
WHEREAS, through dedication, discipline and countless hours of hard work, the Grizzlies captured the CIF Central Section Division II Championship, demonstrating exceptional athleticism and commitment against some of the top programs in Central California; and
WHEREAS, building upon that success, the team claimed the CIF Division III Southern Regional Championship, earning the opportunity to compete on the state’s biggest stage and further establishing Central East High School as one of California’s premier high school volleyball programs; and
WHEREAS, they concluded their season with a Runner-Up finish in the CIF Division III State Championship, an accomplishment that reflects the resilience and competitive spirit displayed by every student-athlete and coach throughout the season; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Central East High School Boys Volleyball Team have brought tremendous pride to their families, coaches, classmates, alumni, and the entire Fresno community, inspiring future student-athletes through their leadership and commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, Mayor Jerry P . Dyer, Councilmember Annalisa Perea, Councilmember Mike Karbassi, and the Fresno City Councilmembers, do hereby recognize and commend the Central East High School Boys Volleyball Team for an outstanding 2026 season, and extend our best wishes for continued success in the years ahead, and do hereby proclaim Thursday, July 30, 2026, to be:
