Project I.D. RC00177
R:\02 PROJECTS\RC PROJECTS (SEWER)\RC00177-J5766 NORTH AVENUE REALIGNMENT\07 CONSTRUCTION\04 CONTRACTS\02 CHANGE ORDERS\CCO Memo to CMO.doc
Contract Change Order No. 02 provides for nighttime potholing within the BNSF right of way, additional mobilization and load out associated with work in the FID right of way, additional track and ground monitoring points and escalated cost associated with the delayed start.
A. During construction, potholing activities within the BNSF right of way were required to be performed at night to comply with railroad access restrictions and safety requirements. This change order includes compensation for overtime labor, traffic control, detour setup and removal, CMS boards, light towers, subcontractor costs, and associated equipment required to perform the nighttime potholing work.
B. This change order also includes compensation for additional mobilization, demobilization, hauling, loading, unloading, and transport of equipment and materials associated with work in the FID right of way. This work was required to be completed before the Fresno Irrigation District released water for the season, which imposed additional schedule restrictions on the contractor. Costs include hauling minimums, shoring rental, portable facilities, and transport of major equipment.
C. During coordination with the railroads, it was determined that additional track and ground monitoring points were required beyond the originally anticipated quantity.
This change order authorizes reimbursement to Teichert Construction for furnishing, installing, maintaining, and removing 110 additional prisms necessary to comply with railroad monitoring requirements.
D. Due to delays associated with the project moratorium period, the project start date was shifted, resulting in increased labor, equipment, trucking, subcontractor, traffic control, bypass, and material costs. This change order authorizes reimbursement to Teichert Construction for the documented escalation costs associated with the delayed start.
Funds are available in the Project Account to cover the cost of this Contract Change Order.
Staff has reviewed this work and recommends approval of this Change Order.
There will be an increase of 13 working days to the contract time by this Change Order.
We request your approval of Contract Change Order No. 02 on behalf of the City.
