FULLERTON POLICE
DEPARTMENT
FACILITY NEEDS REPORT
The Fullerton Police Department building is unique in that it is three separate buildings. One was built in the forties, the second in the seventies and the third in early two thousand. This has posed significant problems throughout the years of merging the three and having them work together and handle the growth and use over the years.
Below is a list in order of items needing to be done, and in order of priority. 1) LOCKER ROOM UPGRADE OR MOVE
This includes the desperately needed plumbing upgrade for showers, toilets, and drains.
The Police Department has throughout the years battled with plumbing issues in the 1940's building. This has caused many overflows and back up issues causing damage to the city and personal property. The employee locker replacements should be part of this renovation as many will be moved and damaged during this repair.
Additionally, it might be worth looking at moving the locker, shower, and bathroom to the newer area in the department to accommodate the high demand of use by all employees and at all hours. Currently, this large demand for plumbing is in the oldest portion of the building. 2) SOLAR COVERED PARKING LOT INSTALLATION
The building of a solar-covered parking lot in the police unit parking area.
All police vehicles are currently out in the elements throughout the day and night. This has caused sun and water damage to vehicles. This area could be covered for protection as well as the ability to install solar panels for power cost savings.

3) MAIN POLICE BUILDING PAINTED
The 1940's building has not been painted for several decades. This is the visual representation of the police department for visitors and residents of Fullerton. There are areas of paint that are chipping, fading, and leaving this historic building vulnerable to structural damage.

4) NEW AUTOMATED ENTRY/EXIT VEHICLE GATES REPLACEMENT
There are four entry/exit vehicle gates. Often one or more of these gates are down for repair.
These gates are used dozens of times a day and are hanging on by numerous repair requests.
New technology and robust systems are available to handle the workload. Additionally, when these systems are down, they do make the back parking lot vulnerable to public access. 5) FOUNTAIN/COURTYARD AREA REVITALIZE
The entry fountain and courtyard have not been operational for several decades. This is the first impression visitors of the police department see. This area needs to be repaired, new fountain as well as landscaping and painting.

6) NEON POLICE SIGN UPGRADE
The staple of the Fullerton Police Department is the blue neon "Police" sign at our entrance.
This sign stopped working a few years back and needs to be upgraded to continue the legacy.

7) COVERED WALKWAY
The walkway from the back parking lot to the facility houses all the air conditioning units and is exposed to the elements. This area could be covered and allow for additional storage of equipment as well as keep the AC unit machinery in good working order.
