DISCUSSION
The City has received Older Americans Act Title III-B funding to provide recreation, wellness and social service programs to the City’s older adults since the 1970’s. The County of Orange Community Services Office on Aging administers Title III-B Older Americans Act programs. The County awarded the City $71,793 to provide programs and services engaging older adults in organized and enriching activities at the Fullerton Community Center for Fiscal Year 2021-22.

The Office on Aging provides additional OTO funding allocations throughout the grant term due to varied and unpredictable surplus funding amounts. The Office on Aging awarded the City $5,707 OTO funding for senior activities and cash and material Aid. The additional funding will serve approximately 2,450 seniors with programs and material aid (government surplus commodities and Senior Grocery Program).

In addition to the OTO funding, the Office on Aging awarded the City $29,678 in ARPA funds to enhance existing Older Americans Act programs and services from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. The City will use the ARPA funds at the Fullerton Community Center to enhance the senior programming and emergency kits provided at no cost to seniors. The Parks and Recreation Department will expend all of the ARPA funding in the current 2021-22 fiscal year.
