SUBJECT: REGULATION AND PROHIBITION OF UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CATALYTIC CONVERTERS – SECOND READING OF ORDINANCE
SUMMARY
City Council introduced the first reading of an ordinance to establish regulations and prohibit the unlawful possession of catalytic converters in the City of Fullerton at the June 7, 2022 City Council meeting. City Council may adopt the ordinance following the second reading.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Ordinance No. 3314.
ORDINNACE NO. 3314 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA, ADDING FULLERTON MUNICIPAL CODE TITLE 7 (PUBLIC SAFETY AND MORALS), CHAPTER 161 (UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROHIBITED) ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS PROHIBITING THE UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CATALYTIC CONVERTERS IN THE CITY

FISCAL IMPACT
Currently budgeted City staff will manage any increase in the number of criminal cases prosecuted by the Fullerton City Attorney’s Office as a result of the ordinance.
DISCUSSION
City Council unanimously introduced Ordinance No. 3314 for first reading by title only and waived further reading of the ordinance at its June 7, 2022 meeting. The recommended action would adopt the previously introduced ordinance. The ordinance would take effect 30 days from the date of City Council adoption.
