DISCUSSION
Pursuant to Government Code Section 50055, the City may transfer any unclaimed checks less than fifteen dollars and any unclaimed checks where the City does not know the depositor, uncashed after one year to the general fund or to the respective funds from which the City paid, with City Council approval and without posting and publishing a public notice.
The Administrative Services Fiscal Services Division has identified unclaimed and uncashed checks of less than fifteen dollars. City Council approval to void these unclaimed checks would effectively transfer unclaimed monies to the respective funds from which the City issued funds, consistent with Government Code Section 50055.
