DISCUSSION
The request for a Disabled Person parking space in front of 611 East Commonwealth seeks to secure proximity parking near the front of the home for a resident whose family member has a permanent disability impacting their mobility. Vehicles routinely occupy the on-street parking on East Commonwealth and the resident can have difficulty finding on-street parking near the home. Available on-street parking near the home would greatly enhance the health, safety and quality of life for the resident and their family member. The resident cannot use garage parking off the alley due to the narrow garage space and lack of accessible access between the garage and the living quarters of the home.
The resident possesses a Disabled Person placard for transporting their family member and the property complies with the ADA for ambulatory needs. The property owner also supports this request.
