The California Department of Justice has approved the Fullerton Police Department grant application in response to the DOJ Request for Proposals for Activities of Local Law Enforcement Agencies, funded under the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax Action of 2016 and approved by voters as Proposition 56. The $702,271 MOU becomes effective upon signature and expires June 30, 2026.

The 2020-2022 Tobacco Grant provided funding for the Police Department to conduct tobacco law inspections and enforcement. This Tobacco Law Enforcement Grant would allow the Police Department to continue providing proactive education to Fullerton businesses selling or furnishing tobacco-related products and to conduct enforcement with these establishments and enabling adults. The Department Directed Enforcement Team will implement and manage this program using existing Police personnel.
